GAP Training Center

Building a healthcare workforce pathway, one practical skill at a time.

GAP treats healthcare as a ladder, not a single job. You start at the level that fits you now, and each course you finish puts the next one within reach.

01

Small groups

The instructor observes every student directly, so technique gets corrected before it becomes a habit.

02

Hands-on practice

You repeat the skill on equipment until the motion is automatic, before anyone puts you in front of a patient.

03

Credentials that stack

Each course is a step you can build on, not a certificate that stops at the door.

A real place to practice

Classroom and clinical-skills space built for participation.

The training room is set up for practice, not lecture. Students work through scenarios, hand off information the way they would on a real unit, and receive correction on the spot.

  • A growing inventory of clinical training equipment
  • A room that reconfigures for whichever skill the group is on
  • A neighborhood location that works for people holding down a job

Healthcare as a pathway

Current training and future growth

What runs today, what is being built, and what still needs a state approval or a clinical partner.

Active / current

Running today

  • American Heart Association BLS Provider
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid training
  • Community emergency-preparedness education
In development

Being built

  • Home Health Aide
  • DODD medication-related training
  • Medication Aide pathway
  • Dining and feeding-assistance education
  • A hospital route: PCT, phlebotomy, EKG, and BLS together
Future / phased

Waiting on approvals

  • Ohio Nurse Aide and STNA
  • More hospital and workforce routes as partnerships mature

Programs listed under Being built and Waiting on approvals are not yet issuing credentials, and enrollment for each one will open as its approvals and partnerships are finalized. Ask GAP about a specific pathway and you will get its current status.

Partnership principle

A pipeline only works if both ends get something.

GAP prepares Akron residents for healthcare work. A partner brings the part GAP cannot: a floor to observe, a mentor, equipment, or a job at the end of it. Neither side is asked to carry the whole thing.
