Our mission
Who we are
Community trust connected to practical opportunity.
An Akron 501(c)(3) public charity that brings education, health, workforce training, youth and family programs, and community resources under one roof.

Our vision
A thriving community where everyone has the opportunity to grow, lead, and succeed.
Our role in Akron
A community-based bridge.
GAP connects residents, education, healthcare, workforce development, and community organizations. Effective partnerships begin by listening to community needs, recognizing existing strengths, and creating practical ways to work together.
GAP serves Akron and Summit County. Staying local is what lets the organization know which employers are hiring, which families need what, and who to call.

What makes GAP different
Programs that connect to each other.
A CPR class can lead to a healthcare course. A healthcare course can lead to an employer. GAP builds the connections between them instead of running each program on its own.
Community centered
Programs start from what Akron residents say they need, and get built alongside them.
Hands on
You practice each skill until you can perform it, in a group small enough for the instructor to observe and guide you.
Transparent
Every program on this site says whether it is open, being built, or still years out.
Built to last
A program opens when its instructors, approvals, insurance, equipment, and partners are in place. Not before.
